Family Conflict and Generational Wounds

(Estrangement, Attachment, and Family-of-Origin Issues)

Sometimes family relationships are painful or complicated.

Family conflict and estrangement can leave deep emotional wounds. Many adults struggle with guilt, anger, grief, or confusion about parents, siblings, or adult children – especially when distance or estrangement is involved.

Conflicts among family members, problems with extended family members, issues associated with blended families, or relationship problems arising from external factors (e.g., infidelity, finances) are among the issues that can create problems for a family.

Other problems can arise when one must adjust to societal changes in a new country, especially when there are conflicts with parents who place expectations that are inconsistent with current norms.

Therapy can help with family issues, whether internal or external.

How can therapy help?

Therapy with families is careful, compassionate work. It helps you understand family patterns without blaming or minimizing your pain.

We look at attachment, boundaries, loyalty, and grief in a way that honors your experience.

Together, we explore how generational patterns shape your relationships and sense of self. Therapy can help you reduce guilt, strengthen boundaries, and find peace – whether reconciliation is possible or not.

Healing doesn’t require perfect families.

If family relationships continue to weigh on you, therapy can help you find clarity and emotional freedom.

Therapy offers support for the entire family, and as your therapist, I appreciate how problems can arise and am prepared to help you find ways to address them.

Reach out when you’re ready. I am willing to take this journey with you.
